Driver/Security Guard - Full-time with Benefits

Job Description

Covenant Shores has an opening for a full-time Driver/Security Guard to drive our shuttle 2 days/week and serve as Security Guard 2 nights/week.

The schedule for this position is 4 days per week on the following schedule:

Thursday/Friday 5:00 am - 5:45 pm (as Driver), and

Saturday/Sunday 4:pm - midnight (as Security Guard)

In the Driver role you will:

  • Drive our employee shuttle or other company vehicles to transport residents and staff on Mercer Island.

  • Render emergency assistance if required.

  • Perform safety inspections on all vehicles prior to use and report any problems.

In the Security Guard role you will:

  • Patrol property on foot or in golf cart or vehicle to check for unsafe situations, incidents, unlocked doors.

  • Maintain a log of all incidents during shift.

  • Respond to resident needs, alarm system and emergencies.

  • Serve as primary contact for facilities maintenance issues during shift.

  • Drive company vehicles to transport residents and staff on Mercer Island.

  • Render emergency assistance when required.

  • Interact respectfully with residents, guests and staff.

For this role you need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid WA driver's license and excellent driving record.

  • Previous professional driving experience in a multi-passenger van or bus preferred, preferably in a health care or retirement community setting.

  • Compassion for seniors.

  • Cooperative, courteous, responsive, responsible.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and courteously with residents and staff.

  • Ability to manage emergency or crisis situations and deal effectively and courteously with unpleasant situations or individuals.

  • Basic facilities maintenance troubleshooting and repair skills.

  • Ability to operate hand-held radio.

Other requirements:

  • Must be at least 21.

  • Must pass pre-hire drug screen and background check.

  • Ability to walk around the campus and navigate sidewalks and stairways at night.

  • Must begin and then complete state-required 75-hour orientation/safety/caregiver training -- time and tuition paid; or have current Nursing Assistant Registration.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
